Franken Division is an App I developed (Full Stack) that targets Time Blindness for people with Executive Dysfunction and ADHD, using schedule visualization, “Franken Division” for tasks and accountability reinforcement methods.

What exactly is Executive Dysfunction? Executive Dysfunction means dysfunction in Working memory, Cognitive flexibility, Inhibition control, and other higher-level executive functions. Executive dysfunction is a feature of many conditions, and here is a veeeeery non-exhaustive list of just some of the conditions which deal with Executive Dysfunction, which includes Autism, Brain Injury, Alzheimer, and more.

Now however, these issues are not that easy to tackle, and many of them require building a brand new coping system that works for each person.

For me personally, time blindness affects the quality of my life the most and I have been everywhere looking for the right solution. The symptoms of time blindness includes

  • Underestimating or overestimating how much time has passed, how long a task will take, or how much time is left before an anticipated event

  • Chronically missing deadlines or arriving late, even for things you are excited about

  • Difficulty making a realistic schedule or sticking to a schedule

  • Constantly “losing track” of time

  • Frequently feeling like time is “slipping away”

So, when there isn't a solution out there for me, I created the solution myself. Today, I present to you Franken Division, an App that targets Time Blindness for people with Executive Dysfunction and ADHD.

The app is consist of four sections:

  • Schedule visualizer

  • Task Divider

  • Documents

  • Balance

  1. Schedule visualizer:

Time is an abstract concept, and time blindness makes people have a hard time keeping track of it, so the Schedule Visualizer would help see time, in progress tasks and upcoming schedule visually. This works by packing daily tasks in a vertical bar and placing a customised picture for each task on top, instantly reminding users what they have to do instead of what might be distracting them.

2. Task Divider is the section that is not found anywhere on the market, and it is also the part I am proud of the most in this app. Underestimating or overestimating time for task is a HUGE thing in Time Blindness, and Task Divider is just right for that.

  1. Task Divider gives you the almost exact estimation of time needed to complete a task by dividing it into smaller tasks, gives you guides throughout the process, and uses a special formula for time estimation.

  2. It also shows a countdown instead of deadline time to help you see time better (and also feel the urge more) .

To make my vision of this app possible, I had to used Figma and Miro to prompt the concept of the app. For Front-end, I used React Native, Javascript, and CSS to create the user’s interface.
